Home > Understanding Due Date
Due date - you might have heard this term a thousand times from many women around you when they talk about pregnancy. Due date is simply an assumed date of delivery or the day when you expect your sweet little baby to arrive in this world.
Although it is only an estimate, the due date is calculated by adding 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of last menstrual period. Here, we are assuming a 28 day cycle, which may vary as per the length of menstrual cycle. One also needs to understand that the menstrual period and ovulation are counted as the first two weeks of pregnancy. If one delivers on the due date, the baby is actually only 38 weeks old, not 40. Use our Due Date Calculator to find your baby’s expected birth date!
